This lab error involved both a sample switching error and a database match. A man in jail for an alleged immigration violation was accused by his cellmate of rape. Samples were taken from both men but were apparently mislabeled. The known samples were then compared to evidence samples from unsolved assaults and several hits were made, but to the wrong person.
